The eye, as defined in Webster’s Dictionary, is described as the organ of sight, with the power of appreciating and discriminating visual perception. A normal pair of eyes within a person observes and helps identify objects and their natures. When a person’s eyes identifies an object, one can reliably state, “The eyes have it”; meaning that with the observation obtained from the use of the eyes, one can see and understand the object being observed and the nature and purpose of the object. For example, when a human’s eyes observe an automobile and, because of the observation, the human is able to understand the primary function and purpose of an automobile.

When one observes the physical and emotional characteristics of the human male and female with one’s eyes, it becomes readily apparent that the male and female are complementary, precisely because of the unique physical and emotional functions that the male and female possess. Men and women have recognized that these complementary functions have, as their primary purpose, the creation and sustaining of the human race.

An architect may describe the relationship between a man and a woman as “form follows function.” (The American architect Louis Sullivan stated it thusly, “It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic, of all things physical and metaphysical, of all things human and all things super-human, of all true manifestations of the head, of the heart, of the soul, that the life is recognizable in its expression, That form ever follows function. This is the law.”). Man and woman form a physical and emotional relationship to maintain and foster the human race. Man, woman, and human societies from the beginning of time have defined this relationship as “marriage”. No great philosopher or theologian or, heavens forbid, politician were necessary for man to understand the critical basic purpose of the physical and emotional relationship between a man and a woman.

Now go ahead and look at the physical characteristics of the man and female….do not be bashful….go ahead. You get the picture; male and female are complementary and the form of each follows their function. All that men and women required were a pair of eyes to grasp this fundamental observation. It might be stated thusly, “The eyes have it.

As one’s eyes observe the physical and emotional attributes of a physical relationship between two men or between two women, it is clear that this type of a relationship is very different from that which exists between a man and a woman. The purpose cannot be, nor will ever be in the future, to create and sustain the human race; a relationship between two people of the same sex cannot create a new human being. A new human being only originates from the actions between a man and a woman – two men together or two women together are unable to create a new human being. It violates the form follows function mandate. Whatever the physical relationship may be called between two individuals of the same sex, it cannot be the same as the relationship between a man and a women; it is not marriage. To identify a same sex physical relationship as marriage would require that humans reject the eye test and color their vision with a falsehood. The eyes would proclaim such a concept as false. Only the relationship between a man and women where the physical and emotional actions are open and ordained to the creation of another human life can be recognized as marriage. This is the only relationship that passes the eye test for marriage. The eyes have it.
