ON GOD
God exists! Man has searched for God throughout the ages. Over the course of history, mankind viewed God as appearing in many forms; as myths, as humans, as spirits. Before the Christian era, the ancient philosophers struggled to define God, though some were very incisive. Anaxagoras (500-422 BCE) commented ‘that the mind is God and God is mind.” Aristotle reasoned that there existed an Unmoved Mover, the source of all things. The great philosophical tradition of Socrates, Plato, and especially Aristotle emphasized the preeminence of reason and thusly an indication of God. The Jewish prophets knew God as a loving person who was man’s author and guide.
Then came Jesus Christ, God Incarnate. In Jesus, God revels Himself to mankind as love and reason. Nothing has remained the same since then. Mankind now has the choice to consciously acknowledge this God of love and reason or not….and to comprehend and accept the consequences of that choice.
